Kevin-Prince Boateng says racist players should be Sacked

AC Milan's Kevin-Prince Boateng says racist players should not be able to play for their club again.
The Ghanaian walked off the pitch against Italian team Pro Patria after he was racially abused by their fans.
His actions come after Liverpool's Luis Suarez and Chelsea's John Terry were sanctioned for using racist language.
Boateng, 26, said: "A player who does something wrong, who is racist, can never play for the club again or can never play in the country again."
The former Portsmouth player admitted walking off the pitch in January during a mid-season friendly against the lower-league club was "not the right thing to do".
But, ahead of a meeting with Fifa president Sepp Blatter, who praised Boateng's actions, the player believes it sent a "big message" to racists in football.
Asked if more black and ethnic minority players should be in positions of power, Boateng replied: "If it's more multi-cultural, it gets more people and more countries involved and these things can help.
"Let's hope that soon there's going to be a black [Jose] Mourinho and Pakistani [Pep] Guardiola."
And Boateng said football authorities needed to be stricter in their punishments for fans and players.
"Money doesn't really hurt, it's not the subject that can hurt you so much," Boateng told BBC Sport.
"If there's a fan who has done something wrong and he can never come to the stadium again, that is something that can hurt you because you're a fan and you love the sport.
"Or a football player who does something wrong, who is racist, and can never play for the club again or can never play in the country again. These are the things that hurt and I think this is the right way to go. [It needs to be] very strict, very hard and make it very clear."
That stance has already been backed by fifa, with new anti-racism chief Jeffrey Webb believing tougher penalties like relegation and exclusion from major tournaments need to be introduced.
Webb also said he had plans to meet the perpetrators and victims of racism in English football.
Uefa fined Serbia £65,000 after England Under-21 players were the subject of racist abuse in a Euro 2013 play-off, while the European governing body has imposed fines on italian team Lazio For racist chating this season
Boateng's AC Milan team-mate Mario Balotelli has also recently been racially abused by fans of rival team Inter during the Milan derby, with the club being sanctioned by Seria A  officials
Reflecting on his walk-off in January, Boateng added: "If I look back I know it wasn't the right thing to do because we are professionals, we are entertainers, we have to entertain the people and we are paid to be on the field.
"So maybe it's not the right thing to do but someone had to do it. It is not that I woke up one day and said 'I want to be that one'. I just did it out of emotions and I think it was a big, big signal and a big message.
"From that signal, from that message, we can move on and go in the perfect, right direction to fight against [racism]."

Messi: I want to play with Rooney and Bale

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi admits he would like to play with both Wayne Rooney and Gareth Bale, two players he believes are currently at the top of their game.

With the likes of Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Alexis Sanchez plying their trade in Barcelona, Messi has no shortage of world class team-mates, and the Blaugrana have expectedly blazed a trail in the La Liga this season.
Barcelona have already amassed an amazing 68 points from 26 league games played so far, and with a commanding 11 point lead at the top of the table, the Catalan giants are firmly on track to regain the La Liga title from arch-rivals Real Madrid this season.
Despite the Blaugrana's dominance, Messi has hinted at his desire to see the club reinforced with more world class players - in particular, the 25-year-old pinpointed both Tottenham Hotspur winger Bale and Manchester United striker Rooney as players he would love to have a chance of linking up with.
"Wayne Rooney and Gareth Bale are both great players, they are doing so well for their clubs," Messi was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
"And I always want to play with the best players. But I have to be careful with what I say because I can't see them leaving their teams soon.
"But of course I want to play with the best players."
One of the reasons for Messi's wish to play alongside Bale and Rooney may stem from the fact that the Blaugrana's recent run of results have been far from satisfactory.
Messi and his team-mates were recently knocked out of the Copa del Rey by arch-rivals Real Madrid and lost 2-1 to the same opponents, who put out a second string side, in the league. In addition, the Blaugrana's hopes of winning the Champions League are hanging on a thread after they lost 2-0 to AC Milan at the San Siro in the first leg of their last-16 tie.
However, Messi is confident that his side can pick itself up from their recent disappointments and overturn the two goal deficit when they host the Rossoneri at the Nou Camp for the second leg.
"We're all aware of the problems at the moment," Messi admitted.
"We've had some big defeats and we all have to do a bit more to change and improve the situation.
"We have a very important match next week and we have to focus on that.
"I hope we overturn the 2-0 loss. Why can't we score three when they scored two in Italy?
"That's what everyone expects from us and this is what we are going to try to do.
"Milan will be difficult but we can do it. We all have to do more. We have to show we can play better, like we did before."
Despite his undoubted brilliance, Messi has never scored against an Italian team from open play, and the diminutive forward is looking forward to putting an end to that unwanted record against the Rossoneri.
"Italian teams have good players," Messi added.
"These records exist to be broken and I hope I break it next week. Italians team famous for having strong defenders. It's a problem for everyone.
"I focus on the ability of myself and Barca to overcome this problem. We need to overcome it and next week's match is the best way of doing it."
Messi also dismissed suggestions that the illness of manager Tito Vilanova, who is currently undergoing treatment in New York, is the reason for Barcelona's recent decline in fortunes.
"Vilanova has affected us a lot of course," Messi reflected.
"It's affected the dressing room but we can't use this as an excuse for our results. We just have to hope they are back soon."
The subject of whether Messi or Real's Cristiano Ronaldo is the better player is also a prickly one for Argentinian international, who claims that both he and his Portuguese rival are only focused on playing their own game and do not bother about each other's achievements.
"I've been asked a lot of times about Ronaldo," Messi revealed.
"We don't make comparisons though. We don't exist as players just to see which of us is better.
"We want to win trophies. I'll leave the comparisons to you."
Barcelona will take on relegation threatened Deportivo La Coruna in their next La Liga fixture on Saturday before hosting AC Milan at the Camp Nou for the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie with AC Milan on Tuesday.

Old Lady stroll past Celtic into quarter-finals

Celtic's Champions League journey ended with a 5-0 aggregate defeat by Juventus after goals from Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella in Turin.

The Serie A leaders took what turned out to be an unassailable three-goal lead from the first leg into the game and any feint hopes of a Hoops comeback ended in the 24th minute when Matri opened the scoring from close range.
Quagliarella notched the second in the 65th minute as the spirited Parkhead men were again punished heavily for a lack of concentration.
However, in the final analysis, Celtic can only look at their European campaign in a positive light.
The Hoops won two qualifiers against HJK Helsinki and Helsingborg, before finishing second in Group G to Barcelona, whom they famously beat at Celtic Park, at the expense of Benfica and Spartak Moscow.
Lennon will have another crack at it next year and although they will have to negotiate three qualifiers, his players will be all the better for this season's continental experiences.
The former Celtic skipper had travelled to Italy looking for at least a win and to that end he made four changes to his side.
Charlie Mulgrew, Beram Kayal, Georgios Samaras and Kris Commons came in at the expense of Efe Ambrose, Thomas Rogne, James Forrest and Anthony Stokes, all of whom started on the bench.
Samaras, who had scored in each of the five away European ties in the campaign, was stand-in skipper while Victor Wanyama stepped back from midfield to partner Kelvin Wilson, in the surprise absence of Ambrose.
Juve boss Antonio Conte had three players, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Claudio Marchisio and Arturo Vidal, within one yellow card of a ban and only the latter was involved, starting in midfield along with star man Andrea Pirlo.
The noise inside the ultra-modern Juventus stadium in the early stages was ear-splitting at times but Celtic did not appear intimidated.
With Gary Hooper and Samaras in attack, supported by Commons through the centre, the visitors edged forward with some confidence looking for the first goal which was needed to give them any sort of realistic chance of rescuing the tie.
In the 21st minute the Scottish champions came close to getting the opener when Commons capitalised on slack play to set up Joe Ledley, whose drive from 25 yards whistled just past Gianluigi Buffon's left-hand post.
However, three minutes later any remote chance of a comeback disappeared when Juventus took the lead, after Hooper had lost possession.
When Quagliarella's low drive from 16 yards was parried by Forster, Matri was first to the rebound to knock the ball into the net.
The Parkhead side, stunned as they were, kept pushing forward and three minutes later Commons' shot from 25 yards took a deflection off Hooper and had Buffon in trouble - but the veteran goalkeeper reacted sharply to push the ball behind for a corner, which came to nothing.
After Vidal had curled a shot over the bar to end a Juve break, Hooper was only inches away from getting a toe to Samaras' cut-back after the big Greece striker had powered his way to the byline.
Kayal had a weak header from an Emilio Izaguirre cross saved by Buffon and Forster finished the half with a decent save from Vidal as again the Celtic rearguard parted.
Ambrose replaced Wanyama for the start of the second half and within six minutes right-back Adam Matthews was carried off on a stretcher after appearing to injure his hamstring, his place taken by Forrest.
In between that, Forster made a good save from Quagliarella and as the game stretched it promised more goals at both ends.
In the 58th minute Ambrose headed a Mulgrew corner past the near post before Commons tried his luck with an effort from long distance which was easily saved by Buffon.
Juventus' second goal was rather simple.
Pirlo's pass found the tireless Vidal breaking past Izaguirre and when he squared to Quagliarella the Juve striker tapped into an empty net.
It became a matter of playing out time for both sides although Samaras fired over the bar from the edge of the box with eight minutes remaining when a goal might have been just reward for Celtic for their efforts over the two games.

Celtic determined to give Juventus a fight (foto)

Neil Lennon wants his Celtic players to go down fighting if, as expected, their Champions League campaign ends against Juventus in Turin on Wednesday night.

The Hoops are 3-0 down from the first leg of their last-16 tie and almost certain to exit the competition to the Serie A leaders.
At his press conference in Turin on Tuesday afternoon, the Parkhead boss recalled a "fantastic" European run this season before insisting his players battle right to the end.
"We haven't had Champions League football for four or five years," said the former Parkhead skipper.
"We had some fantastic nights, even against Juventus the atmosphere was amazing.
"Barcelona, Benfica, to have those nights back at Celtic Park has been truly memorable for me. And going up against the best teams in the world, the best coaches in the world, has been a fantastic experience for a group of players who are relatively young in their careers and who haven't cost a lot of money.
"They have excelled, absolutely excelled, and they have done the club and Scotland proud.
"They have one more crack at it so if we do go out, we want to go out on our shield."
Despite being in an enviable position, Juventus coach Antonio Conte is perhaps the only man in Italy who does not believe his side are as good as through.
Many believe that Conte should leave out Stephan Lichtsteiner, Claudio Marchisio and Artur Vidal, all of whom are within one yellow card of a ban, and give some of his fringe players a game.
However, the Juve boss insists the tie is not yet over.
He said: "I hear people saying this could be a good game for us to rotate the team, but if I play somebody it's because they give me guarantees they can play.
"We have three players one booking away from a suspension, but they will still be at risk of suspension after this round too.
"Nobody wants to minimise the importance of this game, in fact, qualification is obtained over 180 minutes.
"We've only played 90 and we have another 90, plus maybe extra-time and penalties, against a strong, proud team who will want to make amends for first leg.
"There is a quarter-final to be reached so we definitely won't under-estimate this game."

Ronaldo targets beautiful sensation at United

Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo says it would be a "beautiful sensation" to score against former club Manchester United on Tuesday.

Ronaldo did not celebrate his goal in Real's 1-1 draw against United at the Bernabeu in the first leg of their last-16 clash with the current Barclays Premier League leaders.
The two teams meet again on Tuesday, this time at Old Trafford and the Portuguese captain admits the high emotion of scoring in a place which he has had so many fond memories might be too much to control.
"It would be a beautiful sensation. If I score against them, it would be spectacular," he told The Sun.
"I can't say how I'd celebrate - it would be something spontaneous - but I'd love to be in that situation."
He added: "I'm sure they [the United supporters] will receive me well."
"After the years I spent there and the friendships I have, I'm sure it's one of the places where they'll applaud me most. It was a beautiful time."
Ronaldo spent six years at United, helping them win the Premier League three times and the Champions League once in his time there before leaving for Spain in 2009.
Meanwhile, England legend Alan Shearer has made the case for Wayne Rooney in the same newspaper. Shearer argues that Rooney's versatility contributes just as much to any team as Ronaldo does by scoring goals.
"While Ronaldo was allowed to roam free, Rooney was given a specific role," he wrote in his column for the UK-based tabloid.
"He has long since stopped being the man on the shoulder of the last defender, the fulcrum of all striking options. Rooney's versatility means he is here, there and everywhere, depending on the opposition and situation.
"So while Ronaldo was causing menace in the box, Rooney was operating in a right-midfield role, often dropping deep and trying to help his defence to counter the effectiveness of Real going forward.
"It was a role he also played to great effect in the 2008 semi-final of the Champions League against Barcelona, when his side got a crucial goalless draw in the Nou Camp - a night Ronaldo missed a penalty by the way.
"Indeed, in the last two seasons of Ronaldo's career at Old Trafford, it was Rooney who was willing to make way for a player who was emerging as one of the greatest attacking forces.
"Rooney was happy to go wide, deep, off the frontman, act as a wing-back... whatever the manager wanted. After the game in Madrid, one article said Rooney had now simply turned into a workhorse. But what manager would not want a player with that versatility?"
He finished by saying: "Ronaldo will shine on his return, I have no doubt. Rooney may be in his shadow again, but his role will be equally as crucial - and that should not be forgotten."
Ronaldo has 45 Champions League goals to his name in total while Rooney has 27 strikes - all with United.

ADHD often lasts well into adulthood, increases mental illness risk

Sometimes it’s easy for people to simply dismiss attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as just an irritating childhood learning disorder, which eventually disappears when people reach adulthood.
However, ADHD can actually have a more lasting impact than previously thought.  In the first ever population-based to study to follow children with ADHD into adulthood, researchers discovered that nearly a third of children diagnosed with disorder continued to have ADHD well into their adult years.
Along with this revelatory finding came a whole host of other surprising discoveries regarding the future of those with ADHD.  Not only did their symptoms often persist, but children with ADHD were often diagnosed with another psychiatric disorder as adults.  More disturbingly, those with ADHD were more likely to be incarcerated and a few small cases revealed that they were slightly more likely to commit suicide than control subjects.
The researchers hope these shocking statistics will ultimately help reshape the future of the disorder’s treatment.
“ADHD is by far the most common neurodevelopmental disorder in childhood,” lead author Dr. William Barbaresi, from Boston Children’s Hospital, told FoxNews.com.  “… Knowing it’s the most common one, and there are so many unanswered questions – that’s why it was the focus of this nearly 20 year project.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), up to 9.5 percent of children between the ages of 4 and 17 have been reported as having ADHD.  Classified as a psychiatric disorder by the American Psychiatric Association, ADHD is characterized by either trouble with inattentiveness, hyperactive behavior, or impulsiveness – or sometimes a combination of all three.
"We need to recognize ADHD for what it is: A serious health problem..."
- Dr. William Barbaresi of Boston Children's Hospital
The 20-year-long Mayo Clinic study followed a birth cohort of 5,718 children born in Rochester, Minn., between 1976 and 1982.  Of the study’s participants, 367 had been diagnosed with ADHD, three-quarters of whom had received treatment for the disorder as children.  After analyzing the participants’ medical records, as well as performing follow-up interviews and diagnostic tests, Barbaresi and his team gathered some very valuable – and unexpected – facts about ADHD.
Of the children with ADHD, 29.3 percent still undoubtedly had the disorder as adults, and of that percentage, 81 percent had at least one other psychiatric disorder.  The most common disorders included substance abuse, antisocial personality disorder, hypomanic episodes, generalized anxiety and major depression. Having another psychiatric illness was fairly common in general as 57 percent of all children with ADHD had another psychiatric disorder as adults, in contrast with 35 percent of control subjects.
Of the 367 children with ADHD, seven had died at the time of the study’s recruitment – three from suicide.  Compared to the 4,956 children without ADHD, 37 of them had died – five from suicide.  While the numbers were small, these statistics suggested a rate of suicide among ADHD children five times higher than those without the disorder.  And finally, 10 children with ADHD (2.7 percent) were in jail when recruitment for the study began.
While very disturbing, Barbaresi hopes that these revelations will inspire a paradigm shift in the way people perceive and treat ADHD.
“There’s a continued tendency to trivialize ADHD and to conceptualize it as an annoying childhood behavior problem. We need to recognize ADHD for what it is: A serious health problem that requires the attention of our health care system, educational system, and health insurance industry.”
Another take home message Barbaresi hopes people gather from this research is that ADHD is a chronic disease – not a temporary disorder – and that children with ADHD need to be evaluated for learning and psychiatric conditions that have been shown to be strongly associated with the disorder.
“We typically cannot get approval to do in-depth psychological assessment at the time of diagnosis for ADHD,” Barbaresi said.  “So even though we know such a high percentage of these kids will have one or both of these problems, the system makes it so we cannot evaluate these issues until they’re apparent and have caused significant adverse impact.”
While the findings of the Mayo Clinic study are hopefully enough to sway the minds of many researchers, Barbaresi said these aren’t the only findings from their study.  Over the next six to 12 months, Barbaresi and his team will release more information they found regarding how children with ADHD transition into adulthood – including statistics on their relationships, education, employment, and a whole spectrum of psycho-social outcomes.
“There’s a lot more to come,” Barbaresi said, “and much of it equally concerning.”
The study is published in the April 2013 issue of Pediatrics and online March 4.

Knee prosthesis

Recent years have added many people who decide to do a surgery because of knee problems. Constant pain in walking caused as a result of the friction of the two articular surfaces. These symptoms appear mainly to great ages, obese, wing workers or even those people who have an inborn anomalies.

A prosthesis artikulacioni who suffered a knee injury is one of the major successes in the field of orthopedics of this century. In the last decade improvements in surgical techniques and technologically advanced materials have made possible after patient rehabilitation phases to be able to perform daily activities more easily and above all without pain.

These kinds of operations carried out in Albania. One of the patients had problems with my knee decided to do a surgery Salus Hospital. The intervention consists in replacing the articular surfaces with artificial surface plastic-metal-plastic ceramics. Prosthesis that is incorporated in the human body is 15-20 years, however, its life expectancy depends on the fact how we use it, weight, activity and general condition of the patient.

Having spent a few days after surgical intervention the patient begins to move doing some leg exercises that will be explained by the physiotherapist based orthopedic surgeon instructions.

Recovery phase depends on the pathology, age, character and obesity, however, usually takes 1-3 months.

Patient's operation has been successfully completed, but it will take some time and patience to complete his recovery.

The healthy live longer than elegant

Fat people live longer than they weak because their brains fed better stress period. In this conclusion has come Achim Peters, a German expert of obesity.

He thinks that overweight people fit better with modern life filled with stress because their metabolism is stronger. Lubekut University professor has 30 years of studying the relationship of body weight and brain is convinced that it is not true that healthy people die sooner than those elegant.

"People react to stress in two ways: by eating too much or eating too little. Those who become seriously ill are weak, while the healthy have no problems, "said Peters, who specifies that being stylish is not a problem, but being stylish stress period becomes dangerous.

Peters explained that speaks to people who have stressful issues such as poverty, abuse, divorce, lack of faith in ourselves and problems at work.

How to perform tasks children?

You would like them to be more organized and more concentrated in responsibilities. But is this possible? Yes, it is possible.

Most children are somewhat chaotic and unorganized. Your children may move from one thing to another, forgetting books in the garden, leaving towels on the ground, do not perform the tasks that they had started.

You would like them to be more organized and more concentrated in responsibilities. But is this possible? Yes, it is possible.

Some children are naturally organized, but as far as the others, the organization is a skill that is learned over time. With a little help, children can develop an effective approach in performing tasks. And you're the perfect person to learn this, even if you yourself are not so organized!

In order for children to have an easier time coping with the theme of the organization, it is best that each task to expand on these three steps.

- Organizoheni: does not mean that the child must come where they should be and to gather the things necessary to accomplish the task.

- To keep the concentration: d.m.th. you're focused on the task and learn to say "no" to things that attract attention.

- To perform the task: d.m.th. understand, check and complete your work, as it is to remember to put in the bag things to be ready for the next day.

When children have learned once these steps can perform their duties independently.

McIlroy blames toothache for withdrawal

Defending champion Rory McIlroy admitted he was in a "bad place mentally" after pulling out of the Honda Classic midway through an out of control second round.

The Northern Irishman, ranked number one in the world, began on the back nine at the Palm Beach Gardens course and played his opening eight holes of the round in seven over par.
He then found the water at the 18th - his ninth hole - and immediately quit the tournament.
"I'm not in a great place mentally," he told reporters, according to ESPN.com. "I can't really say much, guys. I'm just in a bad place mentally.''
Shortly after, McIlroy released a statement through the PGA Tour, citing wisdom tooth pain for his exit.
He said: "I sincerely apologise to the Honda Classic and PGA Tour for my sudden withdrawal.
"I have been suffering with a sore wisdom tooth, which is due to come out in the near future. It began bothering me again last night, so I relieved it with [painkiller] Advil.
"It was very painful again this morning, and I was simply unable to concentrate. It was really bothering me and had begun to affect my playing partners."
McIlroy had a level-par 70 yesterday, but was set to miss the cut after his flurry of dropped shots before deciding enough was enough.
He had double-bogeyed the 11th, taken a seven at the par-four 16th, and also given shots away at the 13th and 17th holes.
He was playing in a group with Open champion Ernie Els and American Mark Wilson.
His statement continued: "I came here with every intention of defending my Honda Classic title. Even though my results haven't revealed it, I really felt like I was rounding a corner.
"This is one of my favourite tournaments of the year and I regret having to make the decision to withdraw, but it was one I had to make."
The PGA Tour reported it was the first time McIlroy has withdrawn during a tournament.
The 23-year-old has struggled to rediscover the form that has elevated him to the top of the world rankings so far in 2013, highlighted by his first-round exit at the Accenture Match Play Championship to Ireland's Shane Lowry last week.
He signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with Nike last month and his performances with the manufacturer's clubs have fallen below expectations.
McIlroy also missed the cut at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship by four shots last month.
The link between McIlroy's slump in form and his new clubs has already been speculated on, and although he admitted the change had affected his confidence he had yesterday insisted he was rounding the corner.
Speaking to the PGA Tour website, McIlroy said: "It's hard to commit to the shot that you need to play every time. If you know that you should play a fade and you're not comfortable with it, it's hard to do."
Asked if he was close to fixing his swing, he added: "Definitely. I felt like I hit the ball okay, not as good as I can, but it's getting there."
In McIlroy's absence, Michael Thompson climbed to the top of the leaderboard with a five-under 65 moving him to eight-under for the tournament.
Luke Guthrie was in the process of trying to catch him, one shot behind after 14 holes, while Lee Westwood and Graeme McDowell both signed for rounds of 68 that left them two shots off the lead.
However, overnight leader Camilo Villegas endured a miserable day as he signed for a 77, sporting five bogeys and a double bogey to plummet to a share of 72nd place.
Rickie Fowler, who had been part of the pack one shot off the lead, was also suffering as his 71 dropped him to joint-ninth.

Lucky devil? Fergie scoffs at Mancini claims

Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed Roberto Mancini's claim Manchester United are "lucky" to have a 12-point lead in the Premier League.

Mancini made the observation last weekend as he assessed the state of a title race that subsequently saw victories for both United and Manchester City that maintained the status quo with 11 games remaining.
The City manager's argument is that United, whilst deserving of their top-of-the-table status, were not so superior to his own side they were worthy of such an imposing advantage that surely will be impossible to claw back.
It was an observation Ferguson countered immediately.
"We're dead lucky," said the Scot, with more than a hint of sarcasm.
"We have only been doing it for 25 years. It is a terrible habit.
"Maybe he (Mancini) is lucky they are only 12 points behind."
It was Ferguson in one of his jocular moods, although it did not lead to words of sympathy for old adversary Rafael Benitez over his plight at Chelsea, which the Scot preferred to stay out of.
"I am not getting into that," he said.
Ferguson was willing to elaborate slightly on comments made to a magazine that he might eventually end up on the United board when he decides to end his stellar career.
In an extensive interview with twentyfour7, Ferguson outlined his plan.
"There's no getting rid of me. I will probably become a director," he said.
"Nobody knows. Neither do I. It won't be a doctor that tells me to quit."
Speaking to the wider media, Ferguson expanded on his theory, arguing that the Red Devils are working towards what he believes is the "brilliant" Bayern Munich model by installing Sir Bobby Charlton as a director and a number of former players, including Peter Schmeichel, Bryan Robson and Gary Neville as ambassadors.
"That's a long time away (being a director at the club), I hope," he said.
"The role Bobby Charlton has played at the club has been fantastic.
"Bayern Munich is the perfect model. In the past Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness have run the club, then Christian Nerlinger stepped up.
"There is a foundation of knowledge about how Bayern Munich are always successful.
"That is good. It is no problem having a replica of that for this club. It's a role we should be using as well."
Ferguson's comments underline the fact he has no imminent retirement plans, even though his next Premier League title would be his 13th and that, at 71, he will have to get used to a new chief executive in the summer when David Gill steps aside.
None of this seems to bother him though.
Indeed, he is adamant the focus is purely on Saturday's clash with Norwich rather than Tuesday's mouthwatering encounter with Real Madrid.
"Tomorrow [Saturday] is the important one for us," he said.
"Tuesday will look after itself. That is an occasion whereas tomorrow [Saturday] is the mundane, practical situation - we need to win."
In the past, Ferguson has spoken of the added momentum United gained in their 1999 Treble-winning campaign purely because Arsenal were such fiesty competitors.
With City so far adrift, the determination has to come from within.
But if Ferguson is to be believed, that will not be an issue.
"The league games are even more important because we don't want to surrender our lead," he said.
"We don't want to give our immediate opponents an advantage.
"That accentuates it more for me and is why I place so much importance on Norwich.
"The similarities to 1999 are that our cup run was a really hard one, as were our European ties.
"We were in a group with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, then we got a quarter-final against Inter Milan and a semi-final against Juventus. This year the group stage was okay but we got Real Madrid straight up.
"In the FA Cup we have had Premier League teams all the time which we also experienced in 1999."

Benitez believes players support him

Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez is adamant he has the support of the playing staff - including captain John Terry - after his midweek rant against fans.

Benitez can expect an even more hostile reception than usual at Stamford Bridge for Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash with West Brom following his criticism of the fans after the FA Cup win at Middlesbrough.
The Spaniard backtracked on Friday - he said the title 'interim' was not a concern and insisted the comments were designed to ensure the best for his team and a unified backing.
He also insisted he has the players' support, despite reports of dressing room unrest.
"A lot of the players have been supporting me, have been telling me to carry on doing my job," said Benitez, who declined to reveal the content of "private conversations".
"When the atmosphere is good, the players perform a little bit better.
"I realise that we have to do everything together and it will be easier.
"I don't have any problem; it's the opposite. I have a very good relationship with everyone."
Having unhappy players is part of football, Benitez argues, as all players want to play.
Terry, who has been in and out of the side since returning from a lengthy absence with a knee injury sustained in November, missed training yesterday following the trip to Teesside as a precaution.
"He was 16 weeks without training and he has missed some training sessions with a problem with his knee," Benitez said.
"If he can complete a normal training session with the rest of the team then he'll have more chances to play."
Since the initial rehabilitation plan for Terry was revised, the 32-year-old defender has been progressing more swiftly, but it is Benitez who will decide if the captain plays more than once a week.
"Before it was quite difficult," Benitez said.
"It was taking too long. We had to prepare a proper plan and be sure we had all the steps in place.
"He was really pleased with the plan and we started with that. He was progressing.
"Thanks to this plan, and the job of the fitness coaches and the medical staff, he can carry on now training normally and he can play games.
"He's an important player for us. He is the captain, he has quality, no doubt about that. I will decide whether he can play two games a week with the intensity."
In an uncertain period for Chelsea, Benitez is attempting to fulfil his brief of Champions League football next term before departing at the end of the season.
"It's a transitional period with players with quality, a lot of talent, but they need more experience in the Premier League," he said.
"If we can stick together in the next 11 games, it will be positive for sure.
"I am trying to do the best for my team and my club. Don't have any doubt about that.
"Until the last minute I will try to win every game.
"We have 11 games and we have to do our best in every one."

Berdych downs Federer; eyes Djokovic

Tomas Berdych ended the challenge of Roger Federer in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships to set up a final with world number one Novak Djokovic.

Berdych, seeded third here, had to dig deep to overcome his Swiss opponent, coming from a set down to seal a 3-6 7-6 (10/8) 6-4 victory in two hours and 19 minutes.
Federer, who also saw his 2012 US Open campaign ended by the Czech at the quarter-final stage, needed just a single break to take the opening set while the pair exchanged breaks in the second before Berdych edged a competitive tie-break.
The third set was then all about Berdych, who created seven break points to Federer's none but could only convert one of them as the second seed put up a show of resistance.
However, one was all it needed as Berdych emerged the victor to set up a meeting with Djokovic, who had to overcome some second-set resistance from Juan Martin Del Potro to win their semi-final.
Del Potro saved a match point at 5-3 and then broke as the world number one served for the match a game later.
But Djokovic rose to the challenge once again to claim a 6-3 7-6 (7/4) win in one hour and 44 minutes.
The world number one has yet to lose in 2013 and Del Potro had few complaints about the result.
"He deserved to win," said the Argentinian. "He played so well in the tie-break.
"I was break up in the second set and I made mistakes."

Sequestration: When will you feel the pain?

President Obama said congressional leaders had failed to reach a compromise to avoid a sweeping set of spending cuts ready to hit the U.S. government by the end of the day.
“We shouldn’t be making a series of dumb, arbitrary cuts,” Obama said following Friday’s meeting.
The president signed the order authorizing the cuts Friday night.
While officials typically say the cuts this year add up to $85 billion, the Congressional Budget Office estimates actual spending will only fall by $44 billion this year. The $85 billion figure refers to "budget authority" -- or what the government can allocate this year, but actually spend over several years.  Even using the $85 billion figure, the cuts amount to just more than 2 percent of the total federal budget.
The cuts will slice into the military and other programs.
Ideological clashes have both sides locking horns in the debate. Conservatives say Obama is more interested in raising taxes on the rich than in cutting spending. Obama says Republicans only want to dent the deficit by cutting middle-class programs.
Democrats have painted a Doomsday portrait with the sequester. Republicans say it won’t be so bad.
Here’s how the effects of the 2013 sequestration could affect you in the next few months:
March 1 into the Weekend
Obama formally notifies government agencies that sequestration is in effect.
Sometime today the Office of Management and Budget will order all federal agencies to cut their budgets by around nine percent, except for the Pentagon which needs to cut defense programs by 13 percent.
Once Obama issues the sequestration order, Treasury Department officials will take offline the computers that process payments for school construction and clean energy bonds to reprogram them for reduced rates. Payments will be delayed while they are made manually for the next six weeks.
Employees at the Environmental Protection Agency will get e-mails notifying them that a forced furlough of up to 13 days lies ahead
At the Department of Housing and Urban Development, officials will spend the weekend mailing out letters to governors in all 50 states showing how much their grants will be reduced in the coming days and weeks.
Programs that dole out funding as an intermediary — like public rent assistance, farm loans and food programs — will see immediate cuts.
The Rest of March
Forced furloughs will not happen in most cases for 30 or 60 days, after government managers have concluded negotiations with the unions that represent workers.
Many of the furlough notices could start going out on Monday, March 4 –  and most of employees who will be furloughed are likely to get furlough notices sometime during the month.
Once formal furlough notices are sent, many agencies will have to begin the process of bargaining with labor unions representing employees over their specific terms.
Major defense contractors are likely to go public with their own layoff notices in March.
Education Secretary Arne Duncan told reporters on Feb. 27 that teacher layoffs, changes to after-school programs and slicing off days for the 2013-14 school year also will start happening in March.
The Agriculture Department’s programs for the poor also will see cuts in March, including the Women, Infants and Children program, which must cut its rolls by about 300,000 participants. Case workers will begin placing some who apply on a wait list, particularly those who are homeless or are non-breastfeeding mothers.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has warned that the budget cuts to its at-sea observers and fishery stock assessments could impede the opening of commercial fishing seasons in federal waters. Among the most high profile species: halibut season in California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska, which is scheduled to begin March 23.
April and Beyond
On April 1 furlough notices could start turning into reality.
FAA Administrator Michael Huerta says airport shutdowns and flight cancellations are expected to start in early April.
April is the earliest that USDA meat inspectors could begin their furloughs. And without inspectors, meat processing factories would be forced to close.
Unemployment checks will drop as early as April for the long-term unemployed who receive the federal benefit checks.
America’s national parks will be in jeopardy of not opening and delivering the same level of services that visitors have grown accustomed to. For example, the budget cuts mean delays for snow removal at iconic Yellowstone National Park, which typically opens its roads and lodges in late April and early May.
States eventually will have to decide how to cut programs for low-income or vulnerable people that are funded through federal grants, such as child-care assistance, nutrition programs for women and children, mental-health services, and meal programs for senior citizens.
May 1 may bring more angry fishermen. That’s the start of the commercial groundfish season in New England. And that’s followed by the start of red snapper season June 1 in the Gulf of Mexico.
By July, August, and September, the impact of sequestration should be fully felt.
